Hunter walking a field with a Vizsla at golden hour

About Us

The People Behind the Dogs

NV-Neumann Vizslas is a small, dedicated breeding program built on a lifetime of working with working line dogs. We like the intelligence, endurance and workability as well as a bond you can build with this breed that is like nothing else. They are the perfect family companion, yet are more than capable and going hunting with dad if so desired.

Our Story

How NV-Neumann Began

NV-Neumann Vizslas grew out of a simple conviction: the best Vizsla is one that can do both. Hunt hard in the morning and settle at your feet by the fire at night. That combination — genuine working ability paired with the temperament to be a true family companion — is what we have been chasing since we first brought a Vizsla home over 10+ years ago.

The Neumann family has been hunting upland birds in Atlantic Canada for years. When we discovered the Vizsla, we found a breed that matched our pace, our style, and our values. Versatile, biddable, and deeply bonded to the people they work with. We have never looked back.

Our breeding program is small by design. We produce one  litter per year — no more. Every pairing is planned carefully, every puppy placed thoughtfully. We are not in this to fill kennels. We look after our own, we are in this to produce dogs we are proud of and dogs that are capable, true working line dogs. We make sure that we find them homes where they will be appreciated and receive the loving care they need.

Oliver has been working with working line  dogs since he was in his early 20, following.  Oliver has a natural understanding of dog's behaviours.  His experience with the working line dogs comes from the security sector where he worked as K9 handler and trainer. He came to the Vizsla through a chance encounter through his former neighbour and was immediately struck by the breed's combination of drive, intelligence, and sensitivity but also seeking out affection in the most profound ways. He likes to call them "your constant shadow".

Over the past 10+ years, Oliver has trained and worked with dozens of Vizslas, studied Hungarian working lines extensively, and built relationships with breeders in both Hungary and North America. He holds a certificate in canine reproduction and has completed coursework in early puppy development and neurological stimulation protocols.

Oliver is supported by his family, who manages the early socolization of the puppies and making sure they are getting as much exporue to new things on a daily basis, so that on the going home day they are already well rounded.

What We Believe

Our Breeding Philosophy

01

The whole dog

We evaluate every dog as a complete animal — structure, movement, nose, drive, temperament, and trainability. A dog that excels in one area at the expense of another is not what we are breeding for.

02

Proven in the field

We hunt our dogs. Every sire and dam has been evaluated in real hunting conditions before being included in our program. Titles and certifications matter ( to some degree), but nothing replaces watching a dog work birds the natural way as intended.

03

Honest placement

We ask hard questions of our buyers because we care where our puppies go. A Vizsla in the wrong home is a problem for the dog and the owner. We would rather lose a sale than place a puppy badly.

04

Lifelong commitment

Our responsibility to every puppy we produce does not end at eight weeks. We are available to every NV-Neumann owner for the life of their dog — for training questions, health concerns, or just to hear how they are getting on.

How We Raise Them

Life at the Kennel

Our dogs live in the house with us. They are not kennel dogs — they are family members who happen to be exceptional hunters. Puppies are whelped in our home, handled daily from birth, and exposed to the sights, sounds, and rhythms of a busy household from their first days of life.

We follow the Puppy Culture protocol for early neurological stimulation and structured socialisation. By the time a puppy leaves us at eight weeks, it has been introduced to children, other animals, car rides, novel surfaces, and a wide range of everyday sounds. We send puppies home confident, curious, and ready.

"Working Lines. Proven Demeanour. Lifelong Companions."
